3 Missionary Tips about Going Forward, Service, and Humor

I now love Mondays because I get to hear from my missionary son who is in Ohio for the next two years.

1. Go Forward

We got this cute photo from him today--totally Jordan...I mean, Elder Anderson.
I think this is such great advice for life. Keep moving forward. I have often felt paralyzed with fear because of the challenges that have been placed in my path, but I have found that taking even baby steps forward is moving in the right direction. So my friends if you are stuck or having challenges that are too difficult to face right now, keep moving forward.

2. Keep Serving

I am thankful that he is having so many opportunities to serve. This week he found joy in serving:
  • at the food bank
  • helping tackle a jungle of weeds in someone's yard
  • teaching people about Jesus Christ.

He is happy and doing well because he is so busy helping and serving others. Often as we serve others our own problems don't seem as bad. I have found this to be true in my own life. Service often saves not only the person doing the service but the person on the receiving end as well. Keep serving!

3. Keep Laughing

One of my favorite quotes from a recent letter today was, "I've strived to become a Man that can be spiritual yet funny (because humor is Celestial)."This kid is a professional at humor. He always has a smile on his face and is often joking and laughing. There is power in being positive. I am thankful he is still our happy and friendly young man and keeps us laughing!

So, let's keep moving forward, serving and laughing. These are good pieces of advice from a missionary out working hard in Ohio.
