In Thee Oh Lord Do I Hope

One year at Girls Camp we met in a field in the middle of the night. They had us turn all flashlights off and then one person lit a candle and passed the light to the person next to them, lighting their candle until the light flowed all the way around the circle. As we did this activity we sang a song we had learned earlier that week, "It only takes a spark to get a fire going. And then all those around can warm up in glowing. That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced it. You share His love with everyone. You want to pass it on."

It is impressive to me that some 30+ years later I can still recall this scene and the words of the song with ease. This is the power of faith and hope in God. Miraculous moments, like this, leave imprints on our soul which can be brought back to our mind years later.

Sometimes hope in God is a small flickering flame and other times it rages as big and bold as a forest fire. The difference is often within me. What fire am I feeding? The fire of faith or the fire of doubt?

I hope I always choose faith in God.

What experiences have you had that helped fuel the fire of your faith in God?

Hope on!
