Autism and Failing to be Spontaneous

I shouldn't get discouraged, but sometimes I do. This past weekend my husband suggested we do something fun. So, I started brainstorming. One of my sons with autism came in as we shared some of our fun ideas. He quickly responded with anxiety, "but I have to get my chores done first." Argh! So much for trying to sneak in something fun.I love my kids. Honestly, I do. But sometimes I feel like I am totally captive to their rigid autism schedule. Being spontaneous just flew out the window. Seriously! So, I went and worked off my steam in the garden. I have these days every once in a while. It is part of being a mom with kids on the spectrum.#AutismAwareness #StickToTheSchedule #NoSpontaneity
