Decorating our Christmas Memory Tree

We decorated the Christmas tree on Sunday. We don't have a fancy tree. It has homemade ornaments and ones we collected over the years. You see, when we go visit a National Park, a cool museum or a Broadway play, instead of t-shirts we collect ornaments.Ours Christmas tree is a memory tree. We put ornaments up and say, "Oh remember when we visited The Alamo, or Bryce Canyon or when Jordan made this in pre-school." Sweet Christmas memories can be a special kind of gift. It is a time to remember how good God has been to us!Confession: Yes, I did get a little teary eyed missing my son Jordan, who is on a two-year church mission. I cried as we put "his" ornaments on the tree this Christmas. It is hard to do things at the holidays when you don't have everyone there. I can see how the holiday season is difficult for people who are missing a loved one who has passed on. You truly miss the loved ones that aren't with you.So, here is to all the memory trees out there--you know which ones I am talking about: the imperfect ones with homemade ornaments decorated with love and memories from time spent together.
