Are You Missing Someone This Christmas Season? + GIFT
Hello my Hope-full friend!
Sometimes the holidays are joyful and full of family and fun, and then there are times when you are missing someone you love. Perhaps they have passed on, live too far away to visit, or are estranged from you right now.
Not everyone’s holiday looks the same every year. And there are times we grieve for those not with us.
So, how do you get through the holidays when you are sad and missing loved ones. Here are some amazing resources for you.
Resources For Missing Someone During the Holidays
Debbie’s brother died the day after Christmas and later her father died on Christmas morning. How did her mother cope with this and instill a love of Christmas? Read the show notes or listen to Debbie share her story here, Debbie Ihler Rasmussen: Choosing Christmas Joy Amidst Grief. You can watch this episode on YouTube here.
Krista’s grandfather was away from his wife for his first Christmas after he was married during the Vietnam War. Listen to what finally brought the Christmas Spirit into his holiday here, Krista Isaacson: Finding Christmas Joy When You're Missing Loved Ones. Watch this episode on YouTube here.
Shanna was mad at God when her baby died. Her therapist encouraged her to finally write a letter to God and tell Him about all of her emotions. This became a holy moment for her and helped her heal. Read or listen to her story here, Shanna Johnson: How Writing Letters Helped Heal my Grief.
My mother-in-law was grieving the loss of her husband as a young widow. She tried to get home for the holidays and things didn’t go as planned when the car broke down at a gas station and she had to spend Christmas Eve in a bathroom stall. Listen to her story, or buy a copy of this holiday booklet telling her story of an unexpected holiday miracle, angels, and no room in the inn here, A Broken Down Holiday.
Whether you are sad or grieving, remember God can take you where you are with the emotions you have and help you make forward progress.
Remember the beautiful verse in Jeremiah 17:14, "Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed.” God can help heal your sadness and help you find joy as you turn to Him and the angels He will send to help you.
GIFT: Here is my holiday gift to you: You can listen to the complete audio of my holiday booklet, A Broken Down Holiday, here. And if you love the story, share it with a friend (or buy and gift them a copy of the booklet).
Enjoy, Merry Christmas and hope on!
